W2QR Cards
Print your wallet QR and password QR on credit-card-sized plastic cards for durable, portable access.
What are W2QR Cards?
W2QR Cards are pre-printed physical or digital cards containing a QR code with honey-encrypted data. The card does not hold any specific wallet — instead, when you activate it with a password, honey encryption derives a valid BIP-39 mnemonic from the card’s data. Your password choice determines which wallet is created.
You can design and print cards before any wallet exists. When you’re ready, scan the card, enter a password, and your wallet is created. Use the Strong Password Generator to derive a quantum-resistant password from a memorable phrase in your native language and store it as a password QR. Print both QR codes on plastic cards for easy, durable access.
Creating a card
Use the Card Designer to create a card. Choose from 5 templates (Midnight, Ocean, Emerald, Graphite, Light), add a nickname and wallet code, then print or download your card.
The card’s QR code contains randomly generated honey-encrypted data. Because of W2QR’s honey encryption, any password applied to this data will produce a valid BIP-39 seed phrase — there is no “correct” or “incorrect” password built into the card.
Activation flow
- Scan the card — use your camera or upload a photo of the QR code. W2QR detects the card data and presents the activation flow.
- Choose a password — your password, combined with the card’s QR data, creates your unique wallet. Honey encryption ensures every password produces a valid mnemonic — your choice determines which wallet you get.
- Save your recovery phrase — the resulting 12 or 24-word BIP-39 mnemonic is displayed. Write it down and store it safely — this is your wallet’s recovery phrase.
- Generate a Strong Password (recommended) — use the Strong Password Generator to derive a quantum-resistant password from a memorable phrase in your native language. Store the generated password as a separate password QR.
- Print plastic cards — print your wallet QR and password QR on credit-card-sized plastic cards. Two physical pieces that must be combined to open the wallet. Back up the wallet QR to Google Drive for extra redundancy.
Your card is now activated. If you lose the password QR, regenerate it from the same phrase.
Security
- ✓Honey encryption — every password produces a valid wallet. An attacker who obtains the card must check each candidate on the blockchain.
- ✓Strong Password — over 150 bits of entropy derived from a memorable phrase in your native language. Brute-forcing requires ~10⁴⁵ years on classical hardware, ~175 billion years with quantum computers.
- ✓Two plastic cards — wallet QR and password QR are two physical pieces that must be combined to open the wallet. Store them separately.
- ✓Google Drive backup — back up your encrypted wallet QR to Google Drive. If you lose the physical card, restore from the cloud.
- ✓Biometric / PIN — optional verification gate using Face ID, fingerprint, or device PIN for quick access without scanning the password QR.
How the cards work together
The wallet QR card holds your encrypted wallet data. The password QR card holds the strong password generated from your memorable phrase. Together, the two cards provide access to your wallet — scan both to unlock.
Store the two cards separately for security. If you lose the password QR card, regenerate it from the same phrase using the Strong Password Generator. If you lose the wallet QR card, restore it from your Google Drive backup.
Important notes
Use the Strong Password Generator. A strong password derived from a memorable phrase in your native language provides quantum-resistant protection (>150 bits of entropy). If you forget the phrase, any password still produces a valid-looking wallet — but only the original phrase regenerates the correct password.
Protect your wallet QR card. The printed QR on the card provides password-protected access via honey encryption. Anyone who obtains both cards can open the wallet. Store them in separate secure locations.
Treat the physical cards with the same care you would give to any seed phrase backup. If a card is compromised, move funds to a new wallet.
